Into Wine Country with Bob and Marg (Day 2)

Tuesday morning (Oct. 4) took us along the Mosel Valley.  The first stop was the town of Traben-Trarbach which afforded wonderful views of the Mosel.

Traben and Trarbach are actually two towns, one on one side of the river and one on the other.  This lovely old archway now covers a modernized bridge.

There is a little sign in the left bottom corner of the window just over the door (left image) which says "Hier war Goethe" but we could find nothing in the tourist information that could confirm this.

Our next and final stop along the Mosel was Cochem.  It provided a 'wow' moment when it first came into view. It was also incredibly crowded.  Riverboat cruises drop off their human cargo here and it was difficult to maneuver down the narrow streets.  It was also hard to find a parking spot.

The grapes are so bountiful that they even grow on the sides of restaurant walls.  We used the opportunity to pick up a couple of bottles of wine to take home.

The drive home was, this time, without incident.  Serena notified us of an upcoming blockage and, having been caught once, we were now alert enough to ask for an alternate route.  And so a goodbye to Bob and Marg and hello to our little apartment in Bochum, ready to work once more.
